Designer Reinier de Jong has sent us his last design called DEX, a compact minimalist desk.
Description
DEX is a refined, compact en minimalist desk. The intention when designing DEX was to draw attention to the edges in an otherwise white composition. The end grain of the oak wood, the alternating layers of aluminium and laminate and the folded aluminium drawer fronts which form a handle. By doing so the texture of the materials is subtly emphasized and the overall form of the desk becomes less significant.
The frame consists of two horizontal cross shapes of solid wooden slats and a drawer unit. The frame has a minimal presence around the seat so one doesn’t hit a corner leg when turning away on a desk chair. The drawer unit has two or three drawers. They can be pulled out entirely to provide a place for a printer which one can control from the seat.
